Bertolt Brecht - "Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are."
you have some pretty illin word play.
Just believe in yourself!!
Or something
I'd prefer to trust myself over believing.

Amd yet isn't trust a belief in the consistency and vilidity of ourselves?
Perhaps, if you feel trust requires consistency and validity.

I don't think quite along those lines. Trust is not always proved even if one has it. Trust can also operate on flexibility and adaptability.

You talk of trust as equatable to the expected, developed by routine.

I do not disagree however that there would need to be a reliable awareness of ourselves for such trust to be well placed.
